Tree trimming for fall and winter is crucial. While it is important to keep trees trimmed throughout the year, it is also vital that they remain attractive and healthy during the fall and winter seasons. As it does in summer, trimming leaves gives fallen leaves a chance for decomposition and reduces the risk of disease-causing pests. Trimming also gives our trees a “clean” look as we prepare for winter. The best time for trimming is in early fall when the risk of frost exposure to young growths (new shoots) is lowest.
